			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <em>Minister of Healthy Living, Seniors and Consumer Affairs</em>, the <strong>Honourable Jim Rondeau</strong> announced on the first Caregiver Recognition Day that the province will begin consulting with informal caregivers, of all ages, across Manitoba.  The information collected on various topics such as caregiver needs, supports and recognition will help inform the province as it continues to move forward in implementing the new Caregiver Recognition Act.</p>
<p>There are three ways that caregivers can participate in the Caregiver Consultation process:</p>
<ol>
<li>Online Survey-Visit <a href="http://www.gov.mb.ca/shas/caregiver/consultation" target="_blank" onclick="javascript:urchinTracker ('/outbound/article/www.gov.mb.ca');">www.gov.mb.ca/shas/caregiver/consultation</a></li>
<li>Telephone Survey- Please contact 204-945-6565 or 1-800-665-6565; or</li>
<li>Focus Group-A series of focus groups will be held in Winnipeg and rural Manitoba for caregivers who wish to participate in person.</li>

<p class="p1">About the conference:</p>
<p class="p1">The Canadian Patient Safety Institute along with Manitoba Health, the Regional Health Authorities of Manitoba, the Manitoba Institute for Patient Safety and the Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada are excited to offer the “Become a Patient Safety Trainer” conference to local and provincial healthcare organizations in Manitoba.</p>
<p>With an emphasis on creativity and excellence in educational techniques, the PSEP – Canada conference is delivered by well-respected quality and patient safety healthcare professionals and educators from across Canada and focuses on:</p>
<ul>
<li>Applying human factors in the workplace</li>
<li>Scientific methods for improving safety</li>
<li>Organizational culture and dealing with change</li>
<li>Understanding teamwork</li>
<li>Moving beyond blame to systems thinking</li>
<li>How to teach and implement patient safety</li>
</ul>
<p class="p1">At the end of the conference, participants will leave as certified PSEP – Canada trainers. Trainers will be equipped with a comprehensive patient safety curriculum which can be easily embedded to your organization’s current education, patient safety and quality practices.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The public forum on Patient Safety: Let’s Talk About It was held in Newdale, Manitoba on October 13, 2011.  This forum was co-hosted by MIPS and the Manitoba Women’s Institute Southwest A Region.</p>
<p>Members of the MIPS Patient Advisory Committee (M-PAC) helped lead the small group discussions.</p>
<p>There were 65 participants. All participants agreed the forum was informative. They also agreed that they can use the knowledge they gained. Feedback indicated the forum was worthwhile, well organized and presented, and a great learning experience.</p>
