MIPS will partner with other organizations who are interested in contributing funds to allow us to purchase additional sites in Winnipeg and across Manitoba. If you are interested in contributing funding to this event, please contact Laurie Thompson at lthompson@mbips.ca by August 15, 2010. This is an excellent opportunity for your Board, management, staff, and community to view the live webcast of the three day symposium. Webcasting is a great option to enable many people to view the conference live, and save travel and registration costs.
There are particular technical requirements for the webcast which are listed on the website noted above. Check with your IT specialist to confirm that webcasting is an option in your organization.

The image of a tree is fitting for this year’s Forum theme. “Reaching Higher and Deeper” is reflective of a growing tree that represents the desire of leaders to continuously strive for personal excellence. “Achieving Extraordinary Results” reminds us of the limbs and branches that work interdependently to support the tree’s frame which mirrors the Forum’s goal to disseminate and provide recognition of achievements and successes in Canada’s health system that delegates can learn and grow from.

The Anniversary Meeting
The Halifax Symposium has changed significantly over the last ten years, as has healthcare safety, both nationally and internationally.
For this Tenth Anniversary, the Organizing Committee has invited back some of our great faculty from previous programs. These speakers have been challenged to reflect on what they previously presented and to provide an update on their topics in light of current thinking. They will give their perspectives on what the next decade should or might bring. Keynote Speakers include Dr. James Reason, and Dr. Charles Vincent! This is the final Symposium and it is sure to be an excellent event.
Two Pre-Conference events will also take place on October 21: Pre-Conference 1: Disclosing, Informing and Investigating: Supporting a culture of safety, and Pre-Conference 2: The economics of healthcare safety.
