Mr. Ronald Guse, Vice-Chair, Chair Finance Committee

Ronald Guse is the Registrar, Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association, the pharmacy licensing authority pursuant to the provincial Pharmaceutical Act. The principle mandate of the self regulating M.Ph.A. is for the protection of the public. This provides a wide scope of responsibilities that include licensure, establishing and auditing compliance of standards, complaint investigations, public and professional relations, and liaison and advisory with the public, different levels of government and industry.

Ronald has participated on the MPhA Legislative Review Committee and in the development of provincial and national Standards of Practice and the development of provincial pharmacy inspection/audit procedures. He has worked in the public protection field for over 20 years that has included active participation in the Manitoba Prescribing Practices Program Advisory Committee, the Non-potable Alcohol and Inhalant Abuse Committee, Personal Health Information Act Review Steering Committee, Health Information Standards Council of Manitoba and Drug Program Information Network.

Ronald presently is a Board Member of the Manitoba Institute for Patient Safety (MIPS), on the Working Group on Development of National Guidelines for the Disclosure of Adverse Events and on the Regulation and Legislation Subcommittee of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI). He also is a member of the Faculty Council at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Manitoba and sessional lecturer of jurisprudence at the Faculty. Ronald was a member of the Minister’s committee that Dr. John Wade spearheaded the development of a Manitoba Institute for Patient Safety. The Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association is a founding member of MIPS and Ronald has served on the MIPS Board of Directors since May, 2004.
